The S.C.O.R.E. tracker where all this nonsense lives — daily side.

I've done my time hunting in the Wasteland and getting actually wasted… chem-wise, cap-wise, but mostly time-wise. So, I thought I might give you other Fallout rats a few, hard to find answers before you wander off and get killed. Unlike Gramps, I would be asking you to pull my finger, but I will probably refer to licorice now and again—forewarned is fair warned.

What Actually Counts As What

Does a Scorchbeast count as "Scorched" for a Kill Scorched challenge?

Yes — and so does a Scorched Snallygaster and a Scorched Stingwing. The game's own weekly grouping for "creatures that have become Scorched" lumps Scorchbeasts, Scorched Megasloths, plain Scorched, Scorched Snallygasters, and Scorched Stingwings together. If it used to be something else and now glows orange and screams, it counts.

Do robots like Liberators and Turrets count toward "Destroy a robot" challenges?

Yes, all of them. The confirmed robot roster is Assaultrons, Eyebots, Liberators, Mr. Handy/Mr. Gutsy types, Protectrons, Sentry Bots, Turrets, and Vertibots/Cargobots. Doesn't matter how much personality the thing has — if it's got a chassis instead of a pulse, it's a robot for challenge purposes.

Does a Deathclaw or Scorchbeast count as a "huge creature"?

Yes. The confirmed "huge creature" roster is Super Mutant Behemoths, Deathclaws, the Grafton Monster, Mega Sloths, Mirelurk Queens, Scorchbeasts (and Scorchbeast Queens), Sheepsquatches, and Wendigo Colossi. Basically anything that could sit on you without noticing you're there.

What exactly counts as a Cryptid?

Nine confirmed things: Aliens, the Flatwoods Monster, Fogcrawlers, the Grafton Monster, Megasloths, the Mothman, Sheepsquatches, Snallygasters, and Wendigos. If you're hunting for a daily "Kill a cryptid" and you're not near one of these nine, you're wasting ammo and daylight.

Does the Handmade Rifle count as an Assault Rifle for weapon-specific challenges?

Yes — this one's a documented exception, not a guess. The Handmade Rifle officially counts as an Assault Rifle for the "Destroy Robots with an Assault Rifle" challenge, even though it doesn't look the part.

Does popcorn count as pre-War food?

Yes, straightforwardly. Popcorn counts toward pre-War food challenges. Small thing, but if you're stalled on an "Eat Pre-war food" daily and you've got a bag of it sitting in your stash, that solves it in one bite. That's the licorice I warned you about.

S.C.O.R.E. Challenge Completed notification for Kill a Mirelurk (5/5) in Fallout 76
Scorched wasn't on the board when I went to grab this shot, so here's the same mechanic in action on a Mirelurk instead — the challenge ticks the second the kill lands.

Broken, Buggy, or Just Cruel

Why doesn't collecting bones while wearing a fedora complete Possum: Archaeologist?

Because not every fedora skin is coded the same. The Crumpled Fedora and Dirty Fedora variants are missing the keyword the game checks for, so bones collected while wearing either of them silently fail to count. Swap to a standard fedora before you go farming bones for this one.

Why have I never seen the "Find silo code pieces" challenge?

Because it's not in rotation anymore. That one was a Weekly Atom Challenge from before Seasons, and Atom weeklies got retired when the S.C.O.R.E. system replaced them. Even back when it was live, it had a bug where progress never updated no matter how many pieces you picked up, so it wasn't completable anyway. Nothing to chase here — you're not missing it.

Fast-Travel Farm Routes

What's the fastest spot to knock out a Cryptid daily and a Glowing Creature daily at once?

Toxic Larry's Meat 'n Go. Three Snallygasters spawn there reliably, and Snallygasters count as both glowing and cryptid enemies — so one fast-travel and one fight clears two dailies in the same trip. About as close to a shortcut as this game gives you for free.

Got another reliable Cryptid spot besides Snallygasters?

Freddy Fears House of Scares. Wendigos spawn near there at night — Wendigos count as Cryptids, same as Snallygasters, so if Toxic Larry's isn't panning out, this is a solid backup. Go after dark or you'll be standing around waiting on empty grass.
